Pokemon Individual Self-Reflection

For my individual school project, I had to create something that reflects my future ambitions or showcases my skills to the teachers.

I decided to build a website focused on Pokémon cards, a digital Pokédex where users can browse, collect, and mark their favorites, because existing websites either required payment or only functioned as basic Pokédexes without the ability to save favorites.

I worked on this project at school, mainly involving myself and my teachers. My roles included both design and development.

At the start, I wasn't sure which framework to use, but I knew I wanted to show data via an API using JavaScript.

To begin, I developed a concept and wireframes, then iterated on those ideas based on feedback from my teacher. I backed my approach with research to ensure I made informed decisions.

So far, the project is progressing well, I'm currently coding the core features. Although I haven't finished yet, I'm confident I will, as I still have time left.

From this experience, I learned to stick to the basics instead of overcomplicating things—especially when documentation doesn't offer straightforward alternatives.

I also realized the importance of using tools like Figma early on, to better visualize how my ideas would look in a real web environment, rather than just rough sketches.

Next time, I'll start the concepting phase with Figma to save time and make design decisions more confidently.

Overall, I'm satisfied with what I've learned, and I can apply these lessons to future projects as well.
